Toad Ai606 Stopped Working!

Recommended Posts

Right Ive had this fitted to my car for about 3 years now with no issues. Recently it has occasionally thrown a wobbly. Open the car, get in and close the door and all you can hear is a relay clicking somewhere in the main alarm box (behind centre console). It clicks when the ignition is on and all of the doors are shut, as soon as you open a door it stops clicking. Whilst its clicking (doors closed or open) you cannot start the car, won't even turn over. Both times its done it it has stopped clicking and then worked fine.

Today I have just replaced the ignition module (separate issue, old one is dying) and gone to start the car (not started for a week) and it will crank but not start. Tried the old ignition module same thing. When its cranking the fuel pump is not going but when you release the pump cuts in and will cough a couple of times before the fuel pump stops again. So Im thinking the alarm is buggering about and not running the fuel pump. My first thought was to just bypass the fuel pump wiring into the alarm and see if it starts but its a while since Ive poked around at the alarm wiring (I didn't fit it, it was done by an actual alarm fitter). Was also thinking it might be bad earths possibly but not entirely sure where a bouts the earths will be (assuming the bulkhead/dash structure somewhere. Just wondering if anyone has had any similar issues or has any pointers on the wiring.

If you're still in Swindon then I don't mind taking a look at it for you if it's parked somewhere where you can get a decent light to it, see whether it really is a dead alarm or a hopeless lash-up of an installation causing issues as usual...

(could do with that valve spring compressor back too)

Thought Id update this. After taking the centre console out I discovered that my heater matrix had let go and dribbled water over the radio/alarm. After drying it out I managed to get it started again so just a case of getting a new heater matrix installed now!
