Which Spark Plugs And Slight Hesitation

Recommended Posts

setch205look

Hi All

Its a 205 Look 1.1 carb model TUIM I believe (1989).

Hope you can help with a couple of questions please :

1. Just wondered which spark plugs you might recommend and cheapest source.

2. I have a slight engine hesitation on very light throttle (an irritation more than anything else) any thoughts ?

Cheers

Nick

Sounds like it is running lean.

Maybe the carburator needs cleaning?

change the air filter and blast a bit of carb cleaner in the carb. If that doesnt cure the stutter check the plugs, ht leads, rotor arm, etc. Regarding spark plugs, check at halfords on their flippy chart thing, then get the part number and search online for cheapest source. Brand wont make a lot of difference with a 1.1 tho

oops beaten to it!

Is the hesitation on light throttle just when you come off idle or is it right through the rev range?

It is on light throttle, just off idle (as if cruising patiently in 4th through a 30mph zone), if I depress the throttle a bit more, it pulls very cleanly.

Emmisions at MOT were 'very clean'...? lean. Not sure if I can alter this ?

Thanks to others too for options, I will try these.

air leak?, possibly might need a new fuel filter?

Can you post up a picture of the carb? Specifically the top once you have removed the air filter elbow.

Thanks all

Air filter, plugs and new fuel filter and the hesitation is gone...not scientific I know, as I am now not sure which intervention worked

However, running sweetly now.
