Is Exhaust Heatwrap Any Good At Keeping Noise Down?

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing exhaust heat wrap has some sound deadening qualities, but is it enough that you'd notice a difference?

It does quieten the engine bay noise a bit, but not enough to offset all the other problems it causes!

Well I ran my rallye with a csc marmitte tubular manifold without e bay sourced heat wrap and the noise was immense under load. Following some headwork, I painted the manifold with Wilkinsons matt black barbecue paint and then wrapped the manifold all the way to the joint with the stainless steel system. The noise reduction was very impressive and the under bonnet temperature is significantly reduced. The bonnet is no longer warm over the manifold and it makes it easy to work near the engine even after driving it flat out.

I've had no issues with the manifold cracking or indeed any problems at all, but maybe I'm just lucky.
