406 Turbo Conversion Water Pump?

hello guys. this iis my first post so hope it turns out ok. im in the process of fitting an xu10 turbo engine to my f reg 205. got the engine with the gearbox, new head gasket, flywheel and clutch all on. engines ready to drop in. but im unsure of whether it will fit with the water pump and power steering pumpin the way. (cars not power steering model) has anyone got round this before or got any suggestions?? sorry if this has been covered i couldnt find it on the search.

water pump is timing belt drive, so you can't leave it off :lol:

yeah i know. that but other people have left them off. im guessing using a standard 205 0ne? im worrried because if i drop the radiator to fit intercooler i think the power steering pump will foul? because the engines obviously goin to be tilted too

no you should have space (PAS pump would fit on the top of the mount where there's a gap in this pic)

I don't know anyone on here that has left off the water pump as yet, a few have looked into electric water pumps but this has nothing at all to do with clearance issues, its not an issue :unsure:

 

PAS pump of course you can leave off if you haven't a PAS rack, pretty simple to do that and there isn't a hard fast rule as to what method to use, everyone does it differently so just use what you have to hand and your imagination!!

ok then cheers guys. just to be sure. the water pump is above the alternator and pas pump under it? or have i got mixed up?

Mixed up.

 

PAS (or high-pressure hydraulic on Citroens) pump on top, alternator in the middle, and aircon pump at the bottom usually.

 

As has been said, the waterpump is nowhere near the front of the engine, but rather mounted in a recess on the side of the engine driven by the timing belt.
