1.6 Gearbox Codes...?

Hi guys, looking at buying a 205 gti 1.6 gearbox. I want to make sure that is what it is before i get it off this chap. Is there any codes/markings etc that i can look for to make sure it is that box rather than any other? Thanks alot!

Not really - you pretty much have to whip the diff cover off and check the crownwheel.

absolutley no idea how to do it :S ....? I'm on about buying one, but don't wna get done over thats all! lol

The problem is with out checking as Anthoney says is there could be all sorts of changes inside the box!
