Recommended Posts

hi guys

would just like to post about these items being fauly on serveral mi16 enigine, had bought a brand new item from a motor factors and car had developed a misfire between 2500rpm and 4000rpm

swaped everything from airflow meters to cas sensors thinking that it couldnt be this brand new item. caused me hours of head ache tracing the loom n bleeping everything out checking and double checking and turned out to be not 1 but 2 faulty ignition modules from this company so if anyone does have this problem just remember to try it with an original bosch item as works fine with one of these. rant over :-)

I have this problem too. Any module that isn't Bosch won't work properly and it has to be a German-made Bosch module, with the blue insert.

I recently tried an all-black Bosch module, that said made in America and that was no good either.

Fussy bu**ers aren't they!

Hi,

Intermotor, Commercial Ignition and a few other aftermarket brands are of shocking quality and as you have found out to your misfortune can lead to plenty of wasted time and frustration they are avoided by most of the trade like the plague and would sooner a customer have to wait for OE parts or equivalent quality (Bosch etc) than fit a part that will invaribly fail waste our time and cause our customer inconvenience plus annoyance with us (the garage)

As you can see I have been bitten more than once in the 25 years I have been in the trade and am amazed these companies survive, err sorry my rant over!

Rob

They can be very odd, But as said the Blue bosch or early Ducillier ones work fine and the only one's I ever use due to issue's with all later ones for some unknown reason

About 2 years ago i also had a faulty intermotor ignition amp straight out of the box, fitted a blue bosch one that looked about 20 years old and its been fine (more or less) since. Don't forget the heat transfer compound on the back though!

Always use S/H one's as I don't think the blue ones are available any more

I also got bitten one with and intermotor ignition amp which worked for couple of days then played up, put original blue bosch one on and fine again,

also had a problem with a brand new intermotor mi16 rotor arm that worked for first day then played up badly.

any thing non oe is just a waste of money, all intermotor stuff should go straight in the bin.
