I wouldn't worry about it. If you look down through the threads a bit, you'll find one I started about abnormal wear on 26T sprockets. Answering your question however, it's a reasonably big job as the timing belt and timing chest has to be removed.

so are you saying due to the work its not worth doing. and the wear issue concerns me

What engine do you have?, I'd just stick the spring in the current pump and be done with it, Don;t forget unless you get a proper oil pressure reading again I would not do anything without knowing this

I wouldn't worry about the wear, 285k on one of my 6 engine's and thats still going strong.

But why do you want to upgrade this much is the main question, On a rebuild then the 6bar spring is worthwhile.

i feel oil pressure is a bit low on tick over in normal use under normal driving say 2500 3000 rpm reading just over 4 bar i.e just over half way on gauge but on tick over say 900 to 1000 rpm pressure would be just under two bar i/4 on gauge i think this is a tad low so would like to boost on tick over these readings are on a engine running at normal driving temps

Ignore the guage, I've had loads of car's with a reading of 1 bar, change the sender and you can end up with anything to 8 bar which is impossible due to the pressure valve, My CTi and Gentry are like this and the Gentry even makes the guage goto nothing until warm

If it's lasted this long without being touched why worry?
