Oil Pressure Switch And Sender

i have a part to fit which is an intermotor part no 50870 which is the oil pressure switch

 

then i see this intermotor part no 53800 oil pressure sender

 

can someone tell me what each one does please, N00B question i know but this all a bit confusing

well got a new switch and sender as it was showing low oil pressure when you start, the switch made no difference as no light came on i guess it must be the bulb, but when i changed the transmitter and started the engine the gauge shot straight up to 3/4 as before it lazily moved to 1/4 on the gauge so i'm happy that i have a sound engine and loads of pressure.

 

was thinking about overhauling the engine but now its confirmed that i don't have to.happy days

 

now onto the water pump and belt and tensioner :o
