Wiring Plug Query

Recommended Posts

chipstick

ive got a few mystery Plugs.

7de84e83.jpg

The yellow one looks like fogs (same on other side, but nothing that fits it this side)

The brown could be a redundant original engine plug? Although it is on the aux loom.

No idea what the other is :(

My oil pressure gauge doesn't work ( although illuminates on ignition) so I think the mushroom sensor is iffy.

Water light on the dash is lit, I currently have the expansion tank half full, Is that why, or is it likely to be faulty also?

Last fault... :D

The pass side headlight is dim. swapped the bulbs over to see it wasn't that at fault. I am thinking earth, yet the two yellow plugs seem fine.

The fogs come on with the full beam, yet don't turn on with it after. Rule number 1, label everything well before you remove things :D

Yellow is for the passenger side driving lamp as mentioned. They'll be a matching one on the drivers side.

Red one is the ignition feed for the relays used for radiator cooling fans on diesel models (and I'm guessing aircon models). Unused on regular GTi's

Brown one possibly for the dim-dip resistor?

Yellow- Driving lamps

Red- unused

Brown- either the low speed fan resistor or dim dip headlight resistor

Have you got the little metal canister underneath the NS headlight connected?

Take a pic of the headlight out on the nearside and any wiring that lies beneath :)

My drivIng lamps are hella units and there is no wiring coming from the near side. Only plug is on the left side that I can see and it runs across.

The metal cylinder thing ( still don't really know what this does) is already connected and hangs down out the way and I have tied of back to stop it swinging around too much.

I think the earths are an issue, along with retrofitted driving light wiring of some sought.

There's 2 metal canisters ones for the dim dip, other for low speed fan.

Glad it's started, always happens with 'unlocked' ecu's
