Cam Belt Change Went Well

Recommended Posts

setch205look

Hi All

My 1st post.

(1989 205 Look 1.1).

Just bought it to save it from the scrapyard. After a good clean up it looks great, no rust and whats-more sailed straight through its MOT.

My 1st ever cam belt change too :o . Did the tensioner and water pump aswell, followed by an oil and filter change.

Being brought up on timing chains and pushrod motors, I frightened myself silly with the implications of getting wrong, I am please to say it was very straight forward; the most time consuming bit, being the removal and subsequent refitting of the lower plastic wheel arch guard (rusty screws required the grinder followed by rivnuts).

To all those who feel like having a go, but have trepidation. It is not as bad you might think.

Will get it taxed 1st November and enjoy using it. All rust proofed prior to winter use.

Nick

Yay, the TU engines are good learning tools, fairly simple and most bits are very accessable inside the engine bay of a 205
