Recommended Posts

i see on a thread where someone polished up the rear lenses and looked like new, how is this done? polish alone would not achieve this?

not sure if it will work on lights, but friend has an old spitfire and the plastic windows on the roof cover had misted from the sun.

He used some polish on a paint work mop and went over them. they came up good.

If there quite old looking id wash them in hot water to get all the moss etc out the inside and then you could go wet and dry route or just machine polish them to death.

Lacquer, wet and dry, lacquer, wet and dry and after making them smoother and smoother with finer paper one quick machine polish and theyll look mint

Being plastic, I don't think they would need lacquering. It's fairly common to polish plastic headlights, as they often tarnish and go dull on the lens, so it should be just the same for tail lights. So long as you don't generate too much heat you should be able to bring them back to a nice shine with normal polishing techniques.

Of course you can lacquer them if you want, I just don't think it would be necessary.

Bit of wet & dry then hand or machine polish and you're done. No need to laquer,

I'd never even thought about doing this tbh. Just had a go at my clusters and they look great with a wash / lick of polish.

Anyone done this with front clear indicators as mine are looking very shabby in comparison to my new headlights....? N what grit wet and dry would you use??

2000 grit best bet to start as easier to hand flat & polish etc. Will work on any plastic lights TBH but worth thoroughly cleaning the insides too while you're at it.
