205 Gti6 No Fuel

Recommended Posts

Trying to turn the car over for the first time, and having no luck in it coming tO life. I have removed the fuel feed pipe from the rail and turned over and it's bone dry with no fuel coming through into a container. Could it be pins on the loom? Fuel relay behind battery box was fine when the engine was removed from the 306. I'm on my mobile and search is difficult. What pins could be incorrect, or anything obvious I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

The inertia switch is ok, does it need to removed and soldered to work on these, or is that done as they trip easily?

With a multimeter check the pins on the fuel pump relay for voltage.

From memory, you should have pin 8, 11, and 15 with a permanent live, and pins 2 and 14 with an ignition switched live.

Mostly because they're quite easy to trip - no reason why it couldn't be left in place if you so wished.

I'm getting 12v switched and perm so the wiring is fine. Anyway to check the relay itself easily?

The relay has continuity, the fuel pump wiring at the pump end isn't getting voltage, well 0.02v. The pump has has continuity. So could it be the brown plugs under dash being incorrect? Spiky did the loom

Unlikely as the fuel pump wire is in the same place on all Phase 1.5 and Phase 2 205's, but worth double checking - it's on the smaller (6 pin) of the two underdash brown plugs, wire 74 which from memory the fourth one along and is usually a thick white wire.

Is it just the fuel pump that's not working - ie do you have spark when cranking over confirming that the ECU is working correctly?

Well all the wiring was fine.

I have a spare unlocked ECU so tried that. And it fed fuel!! I was adamant I unlocked the other ECU so retried it and that works too!

The only thing I can put it down to is that the fuel pump takes a good several long cranks to force fuel (although I filled the filter to hurry this). I flattened 3 batteries so it wasn't as if I didn't try enough times. Other wise it could have been a dodgy pump relay connection or even the brown plugs not connecting well originally.

It's sorted that's the main thing. Fired into life and then the other niggles became apparent :D

The fuel banjo leaks. It could be the hose clip, although it is as tight as I would like without ruining the clip or pipe. Maybe because its 10mm over an 8mm banjo - although I'm assured that's the largest available. Otherwise it could be the washer, and the vapour is wetting the end of the hose making it look like its seeping from there. Either way it needs sorting for the MOT Wednesday. I hope peugeot keep the washers in stock. Copper jobbies or is meant to be nylon or something?
