Hope it's not anyone off here but have you seen the black E reg 205 on pistonheads for 5k :o

Wheels need refurbing, scuff on bumper and low oil pressure by the look of things..

A real dreamer if you ask me. Going off this mine will be one of many worth 8k plus

Comments please

Low mileage 1.9's tend to be priced at the higher end of things these days. Looks pretty original (clarion stereo), and lots of history.

For me, yeah it's overpriced, i'd say it's probably worth 3k, maybe a bit more, to the right person. If I were asking 5k for it i'd at least back to black the trim for starters, and have the wheels refurbed, and put some half decent mats in it.

It ended on eBay at just shy of £3k yesterday.

If the winning bidder honours that, then it's worth £3k, but I wouldn't pay that for it, and I think that £5k for that particular 205 would be ridiculous in today's market.

It may be an un-messed with example, but it's Graphite Grey (a matter of personal taste, but I don't see it as a £5k colour), and it's by no means perfect. Horrible manky rubber mats show it's had some proper use (though the carpet has obviously been properly cleaned), the boot mat is similarly stained, and missing passenger door compartment in one of the photos.

But worst of all, the horrible non-original sunroof. You'd be mad to pay through the nose for a GTI with one of those sunroofs, as once they go wrong you are never going to find the parts to fix them.

If it has a britax popup roof it can be swapped with an oe one from any 106. i did it in my first 205. The dealer wanted 600 for a new roof. 30 pounds later, a silicone tube and an hour of my time to remove from the scrappy car and refit and all was well.

Just under 3k seems about right if mechanically it's in good nick I suppose. I either seen a similar car go for good money or s*itter sell for 2k and priced his accordingly.

I must admit I did have a bit of an obsession about mileage when looking for a pug. A waste of time really as they are around 20yrs old regardless of mileage things will need replacing or refurbing to bring it back up to health. That's why I bought my 90k car  so I can pull it apart and rebuild it and learn something on the way as I'm pretty much a mechanical virgin.

Like anything else in life, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. £3k sounds about right. That's what I'd like to think mine is worth, not that I'd sell it...
