K&n Air Filter - Xs

Recommended Posts

If you mean twin choke carb (solex32/34) as found on the tu3s engine then yes, one of the few air filters that actually are useful, as it come with a bigger jet to let more fuel in too :)

If you mean actual twin carbs as found on the earlier talbot engine then nope

not a bad price for it too considering theyre pretty scarce these days, didnt think they still made them

they make a bloody lovely noise too!

Nice bargain. If you're not familiar with the workings of these carbs then shortly comes the point when it is traditional to post up that you can't find the main jet in the carb ;)

Don't want to teach you to suck egg but I'm pre-emptively going to say that it is at the bottom of the fuel well below the main emulsion tube. No need split down the carb, just remove the air inlet, unscrew and remove the main emunsion tube, delve in with a longish narrow screwdriver to unscrew the jet and then retrieve using a wooden skewer (push it into the fuel well and it will stick into the hole in the jet). Refitting is the reverse of removal as they say.

Have fun.

or if you cant get it out with the wooden skewer, dont do what I did and try and suck it out with a straw, nearly swallowed the jet and got a gob full of fuel!

Thanks for the info, I probably would have put that post up if it wasn't for your reply ;)

Thanks again

Mike

Sweet it's all in and on.

Just a question with the tubes though (Yes, I've done a search first ;) )

For now I've fitted a coke bottle to the rocker cover tube.

With this one, it says to block the "small" end in the photo, which I've done, but do I need to actually block this T-connector?

There are two other tubes coming from the carb, but I take it these are breathers?

Many Thanks

Mike

Make sure that breather bottle can actually breath otherwise pressure will build up in the rocker and it'll piss all its oil over the engine bay like mine did

With the breather pipe I just blanked it off.

Cool, will make sure then! ha. I'll be replacing it with a mini-filter anyway.

What about the other breathers? I believe there are two more, one of them comes from the back of the carb. Did you leave them or blank them?

i pulled the T bit out of the tube and screwed a bolt in there.

usuming yours has the plastic elbow to attach to the breather and you arent using it, make sure you block the hole on the underside of the filter efficiently, on a previous car I block the hole bit a coke bottle top and duck taped it in place, which then proceeded to get sucked into the carb!! I thought I'd blown the headgasket when it happened (i was young) and nearly scrapped the car, luckily realised just in time

I haven't blocked it yet, the car is a project so isn't run too often.

I'm going to put a blanking grommet in place and glue it in.

Thanks for the tip!
