My MI16x4 is running standard road tyres and no matter how much I tried to get it stuck it just ploughed its way throw. I owned Suzuki's for a few years doing winch challange offroad events in national championships so know a bit about 4x4 and bought the 405 after selling my Jimny and as road cars go it will not let you down in snow or mud.

I want another!

But, i broke a few transfer boxes (they're the weak link, and neither was whilst i was Autocross'ing, but probably didn't help!) and they have a stupid braking system as standard.

Yep good in all weathers when they work.

Had one in grey "g34let".

Swapped it for a cav gsi.

As already pointed out abs system can fail(and did!!) leaving you with literally no brakes!!!

Don't write them off straight away though, if you can find a good one they're so rewarding! If i could find one affordably, i'd snap it up and keep it tip-top ideally, they're just so rare now! Even to the point where i nearly bought a 2wd one the other day, but they're just not the same! :(

Well of course mine is a 405 T16 not a mi16 4x4, but they have similar systems.

I have run mine now for a few winters with Michelin winter tyres. It is Fantastic to drive in the winter. Even driving on pure snow it it hard for it to loose grip even when i fling it round corners. You feel so much safer.

I Think the mi also has a diff lock, which i dont but i have never needed one yet.

When I drove the 309 Dimma Mix4 the grip level was amazing, though it wasn't in snow, but I did exploit the wet roundabouts :D

Yes I did check underneath as I had never seen one before to make sure my eyes were not playing tricks!

i have a friend with a 405 mi16 4x4 that is up for sale. Think he wants about 900 quid for it and its all running etc. Just had a new transfer box aswell or still may be getting it as we speak. All it needs is bonnet painting as its a different colour and it drives grear. Its got full heated leather etc :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought all T16 405's were 4x4.

That one just looks like someone has added an extra "x4" badge.

You are right Tom. All 405 T16's are 4WD. It is a slightly different system to the Mi16 x 4. A bit stronger i believe among other things.

The badges on that white T16 are all wrong too. The x4 badge probably comes from an Mi16. The other one looks original though.

They are however supposed to be on the boot not below the lights, like this.

I have removed mine entirely (sleeper style)
