Help With 205/406 Servo Mc Combo

Recommended Posts

Andy F

Hi everyone

I am currently nearing the final stages of my build and have reached the point of brake bleeding.

My brakes are made up of rebuilt gti-6 calipers up front. Rebuilt 205 rear calipers. New 205 1ltr servo. New 406 mc. Fully braided lines. Dash bias valve controlling rear calipers.

Today I started to carry out the bleeding. I started with passenger rear as this is furthest from mc. The pedal only seemed to travel half way and then go rock hard, yes the nipple was open. I adjusted the bias valve no difference. Next the tried one of the front calipers the same thing happened. I split the mc from servo pedal naturally fell straight to the floor.

I guess the next step is to take to mc off and make sure it works. Does anyone have any ideas where the problem may lie before I try to take the mc off without covering the car in brake fluid? I wonder if it could be compatibilty issues?

Thanks for any help

I had a similar problem on my first bleed. After disconnecting all the lines to find the blockage, it turned out to be the compensator under the rear passenger foot well. A hexagonal thing that's about 100mm long. These seem to be on the later models only. I got two new ones and problem solved. Don't know what your model is. Maybe this helps.

Did you bleed the master cylinder?

Remove the compensators if you have a bias valve.
