205 Electric Sliding Sunroof

Recommended Posts

RummyonFire

Hi all

This is my first topic hope you can help

Ive just bought a Dimma which has a sliding sunroof

The guy i bought it off stripped the inside which isnt too much of an issue as i have a donor MI16

The sunroof has the mechanism but not the actual winder to open and close it

Ive tried everywhere to get one but with no luck

As an alternative if i cant find one i was wondering if it would be possible to get an electic motor from another peugeot/car if so whats the best to go for and how would it be done?

cheers!

If it is a standard factory fit sunroof (slide only type jobby) then there is no mechanism to slide it: just a handle which attaches to the glass to pull back and forth. The only mechanism is the handle which deflates the seal and pulls in the locking pins so that you can slide the glass.

Pop a pic up so we can have a look. I am sure Britax will have made a power version and I have seen them in 205s historically.

I had a J reg 106 xsi with an electric sliding sunroof. The guy I bought it off had it from new and worked in the parts dept. at Peugeot Manchester. Probably the same thing eh?

I have found a company that can replace the winding unit but will cost £55 which i think is extreme for the little part i need

I think mine may be a Britax one that people speak of.

It is a large glass sliding unit, but doesn't have a vacuum. It doesn't leak at all, so I am not sure if these are 'better' to have than the vacuum ones?

Yeah thats the one its a non vacuum as far as i can tell.

Ive managed to find one whilst searching the net, i wasnt sure whether i could use a handle from a different sunroof dependant on how the handles actually clip onto the unit.

i know they are rare and finding parts for one is nigh on impossible

As mentioned above ive managed to track one down, its cost £55 but its the full unit with the shroud soi guess if the one i have breaks i have a backup lol

thanks for all your help guys
