Rust. Rear arches in particular, as they're terrible for it (as with many late 90's Fords).

Fantastic cars to drive though, and cheap as chips to run given its Fiesta underpinnings :)

Rust, and body panel damage, most is not available any more, visibility if you're tall!

Have worked on them and as Anthony said they're just a fiesta mechanically so not expensive or difficult in the main, nice willing engines if a little under powered compared to many these days, I got on ok and liked how it handled and the willing engine, but couldn't really see much out of it and I'm only 6 foot.!

My brother owns one and its really the rear arches that are taking to rust. He's not really had to do anything else other than wear and tear, a couple of front bearings and rear drum cylinders. Very nice handling on them too. I enjoyed hacking down a few lanes in it.

Nothing that will set your hair on fire, but nice enough for a sporty fiesta.

Used to own one - must say it is one of the top road cars I've ever owned entertainment-wise. Cracking fun.

Great little car! I'd have another if I stumbled across a nice one. As said the rear arches are their achillies heal. Yamaha 1.7 developed engine is a cracker but the keyless crank is a bit weird to get your head around when doing a cambelt change.

I remember these being released and had the press pack with video sent out and I'm sure the 205 was used as a marker for driver enjoyment.

Test drove it and loved it but couldn't part with the 205 1.6 GTI I had at the time.

Have been told no rust by seller, the insulation that traps all the dirt / crap and water on the rear arches - would it help to take it out ?

Having repaired some rear arches, it isn't the insulation that kills them, it is the most short sighted piece of body design with a double skin right where it collects all the s*ite, that causes the outer skin to rot out.

I've always had a soft spot for these, I remember everyone putting the 1.7 lump in fiestas!

I owned one of these in 2000/2001 - it is one of my favourite cars I've owned. Brilliant handling, looks great, feels special with the Sparco seats and sounds great popping on accel lift offs.
