feb 47 Posted October 14, 2011 Does anyone know how it is possible for these to fit both LHD and RHD cars? Do they have a switch at the back that you can flicker to change the beam pattern? I very much doubt it. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeot_205_1.9_1991/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/lighting1/headlight/?471591190&1&6ca470859c8db8d7e73346edf9d10af59d6f4c7d&000176 It says: "Driver Position For left-/right-hand traffic" as compared with individual items that are for left hand traffic only: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeot_205_1.9_1991/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/lighting1/headlight/?471735095&1&bb158106ae82aae0af94bb69c2da717bab0cd4eb&000176 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Peugeot_205_1.9_1991/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/lighting1/headlight/?471735255&1&58c057e1f7879f3b7f80f5f7648b34c7ca84b88e&000176 I think it is a mistake as it doesn't make sense to me but if someone could explain how/why this is be possible then I could do with a LHD set since they have 25% off. Cameron 16 Posted October 14, 2011 I think it's more down to the reflectors in the glass lens than the back of the headlamp, I can't quite see how it works.
stuart1298 6 Posted October 14, 2011 We don't do em I'm afraid, your local branch may be able to special order em, but would take a while, how about eBay France?
lagonda 41 Posted October 14, 2011 Recently fitted LHD headlights to my CTi, & yes, it is the glass lens that is different, so that the beam pattern is correct for the hand side required. As far as I can see, the bulbs are identical, but I think the orientation of the bulb holder is different...so you can't "simply" swap the lenses (yes, I thought of doing that!). Ironically I've driven on the continent for years with RHD lights, & never knowingly discomforted other road users. I set the new headlamp beams as best I could....good enough to pass the Controle Technique....but got flashed a number of times on our first night time journey! Oh well, doubtless we'll have some fog soon, natures gift to DIY beam setters.
Para 82 2 Cars Posted October 14, 2011 Hi Feb, You can find some good selection of spotlights / headlamps on this website: http://www.oscaro.com/projecteur-principal-peugeot-205-741-1-9-i-gti-130cv-259-10074-611-gt
TOYBOY 1 Posted October 15, 2011 It's a mistake on the web site, the reason that they fit both left and right is that they are spotlights for a Land Rover.
feb 47 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Hi Feb, You can find some good selection of spotlights / headlamps on this website: http://www.oscaro.com/projecteur-principal-peugeot-205-741-1-9-i-gti-130cv-259-10074-611-gt Thanks for the link Para. Why are these until 7/1987? Has anything changed in later cars? Lagonda same here, I have never been flashed by oncoming traffic in my FSTi despite not using "beam deflectors" which cannot be used in xenon headlights AFAIK. I am going to see how the beam of the 205 works over here and then decide but as the 205 lights will probably seem to me like candles after being used to xenons I would like to have an "as good as possible" light source/beam pattern.
