Sounds very Sartyesque with those figures Pete.

Still a hell of a lot of money and effort to see a Gentry v6 pull away from you mate :P

But seriously, hope it all goes smoothly from now for you :)

That's why I said no insignificant peaks. This is genuine power.

In any case, it might see more as it beds in.

It's all irrelevant anyway, since I can guarantee it will leave your nose heavy hotch potch for dead! Quit trolling!

;-)

No vids due to lack of laps! We didn't get many in before the intermediate bearing on the long shaft slipped, and the shaft came out the box, dumping oil everywhere! Unbelievable luck as usual!

Mark's right though, it bloody shifts! Makes my

911 seem slow!

He only said it feels faster, it won't be faster, believe me.

feeling is everything unfortunately.

having said that....

1420kg with 350bhp = 246bhp per tonne

850kg with 240bhp = 282bhp per tonne.

autobahn licence loosing speeds aside.. it's going to be bonkers quick.

Tesstuff,

The old engine kept up with a v8 r8 to silly speeds, with my wife in the passenger seat. It is faster, to the kind of speeds you never reach past at least.

I guess it's easy for you to say "it won't be faster, believe me".

Unfortunately, you have no real world experience to back this up, whereas I do.

What feels faster? Doing several hundred miles per hour in the comfort of an aeroplane, or doing 70mph in a classic Mini down an A road? As Justin said "feeling is everything".

Enjoy your 205 Pete :)

indeed, well put GLP :D

Also this car will not have been built with top speed in mind, but acceleration from nadgery hairpins etc, seeing 3 figures isnt that common.

Fortunately I have a lot of real world experience of a 911(997) Carrera S and its performance in real terms against a very rapid 205. Your Porsche is quicker in every way.

Every way... perhaps except where the superior power to weight ratio of the pug gives it the advantage... right?

kyepan, put the power to weight of my 205 into your be all and end all calculations. It is under 200 bhp/tonne. How come it pushes 250 bhp/tonne cars down the road then?

More to it chap.

I was servicing on a stage rally in Belgium last year, another british crew were running a circa 210 bhp carbed 205 gti6, this posted several stage times quicker than a modern porche 911.

Probably because Paul's a handier driver and he can take more risks of binning a £10k 205 over a £??(?)k Porsche!

I have removed my petty jibes at Daz, as we have agreed to disagree!

The facts are these:

My 205 is back in business and will be hitting the stages next month.

I'm more than happy with how it has turned out, and I have already forgotton about the pain of building it.

Roll on enjoying the thing doing what it was designed for.

The end!

What's first event, mate?

edit: My sentiments exactly - get it out there and enjoy it, who cares what the numbers are, it it puts the smiles on your face that's all that's important! Should go well on the stages, that's for sure.
