Ok it passed :)

oil is a real issue though, hope this breather stuff sorts it out or I'm in big trouble for mapping!

Just out of interest, have you got 1 or 2 outlets on your oil filler cap? I have been looking at mine recently and noticed that it has 2, 1 blocked off. The other has been opened up to allow more vapor to flow if required.

I just got them completely wrong because of what pipe I had. I have got:

two bottom breathers on the block T into each other and go to the bottom of the filler neck.

rocker cover breather goes into the side.

breathers on the lid were venting to atmosphere but now I have drilled out the bigger one and put it into a lucazade bottle with venting. The smaller I have now blocked.

Well that was a long night! Got all the steady state stuff, done, then they started transients. Got as high as 5600/5700 and some limiter came in. Steve had heard of it apparently so I have to send the ECU back to MBE. Pain in the arse but all cal work is done below 5700. Put a limit in at 5600 for the time being. Finally got away at midnight and drove home, what an absolute weapon. Properly quick and sounds absolutely fantastic, looking forward to the extra revs, could really do with them!

Anyway, pics.

got on at 8pm, finished at midnight still with the above 5.5 transients to do. Yer they're really good lads, and as good as it gets when it comes to this really. Just a shame we didn't get to do the 2am session it was looking like. Oh well!

Mint, shame about the 5.6k limit....I still dunno what a standard bottom end on a 1.9 is capable of. You reckon around 7k according to Piper?

we will see where the power rolls off and how far I carry on. Last night we were expecting 6800 soft 6850 hard.

Curious as to how it's got some sort of limiter at 5.7k that requires the ECU to go back to MBE!? Did they set some absolute hard limits on certain models for some reason, or is it considered a fault?

Unless it's something like a faulty ignition driver resulting in similar failure mode to an ignition amp on an 8v/Mi16 that gives an almost rev-limit like symptom?

I remember a friend of mine that runs MBE on his Westfield mentioning that ignition drivers are apparently a known problem on them, although how much truth there is in that and how exactly they fail I don't know.

Anyway, a hiccup but at least it's MOT'd and a fair chunk of the mapping work is done, and all looking so far so good (other than the suspect ECU) :)

id be interested to see your figures up to 3500, especially that your engine is a very similar set up to mine.

So you reckon it's worth me popping the Jenveys on mine, seeing as we haven't had identical cars for a while now?

its not as simple as an ignition driver, I've used MBE for a very long time and this is the first issue I have ever had so I cant complain. Just very bad luck on my part.

Still, it pulls like a train up to 5500 and gives me a week or so to tidy things before another track n road visit.

The sound is awesome. They totally transformed the Mini. I might pop some on mine whilst I decide what to do about a 16v implant

ECU sent off, hopefully can get it this week. Need to build a reinforced mount for the gearstick out of tube, so will do that Friday, hopefully I will get the ECU back by then and can go out for an enthusiastic test drive on saturday morning :)

and because the exhaust runs pretty close (and has already buggered my paint inside) I put heat reflective tape on the bottom to prevent any problems.
