Yep, decided im porting it myself (hence the flow bench), but roper will replace and cut the seats for me... I like to do as much as I can myself which is a downfall really, LOL.

 

I got the cams from a chap at work, he built a few hotrod 205 engines years ago which made nice power (240) and had a few prototype cams from piper taking up space... next couple of days and ill no about cam duration. Ive got a feeling they are around 328 degrees, but im going to measure them all and then pick the lowest duration I think... they are all different as they were supplied to allow him to find the optimum for his application. But the lowest im sure will still be wayyyy over 300 degrees :) lol.

Make sure you use the right oil for those cams or the buckets die, And not wanting to put a downer on things but I've known more than one of those Piper cam's to snap in half too so might be worth X raying to check it first.

Cheers for the advice miles didnt think of that! ill check to see what they ran in the race engines at work, you got any recommendations? The chap tested a lot of these cams with piper and had no failures, so I'm fairly confident, but I will have a word and see what he thinks.

 

Picks of the shonky flow bench to come tomorrow. Also got some sort of suspension sorted which is a weight off my mind!

Ok, took the meat out the head to let the cam rotate tonight, which took a while...

No egg sucking, but the easiest way to check a cam is with a pair of v blocks and a dti on a steel top bench, you can then relieve the head to suit the cam you intend to use ;)

similar cams, only slightly different so they all fit now. Its a complete ball ache measuring cams like that, just rotating a cam and measuring straight off the lobe will push the DTI to the side, much better to do it in a head to measure duration.

So decided bias pedal boxes were a rip off so have started making one.

in the box with the back cut out ready to weld in 2mm rear plate to close original hole and then the spreader plate for the masters.

cheers willo, been busy moving house sadly, so not too much done, finished the fab on the pedal box last night but forgot to take pics, also sorted out some second hand coil overs, mounts, rear damper and uprights for it. So will be building up a new rolling front subframe over the next week, hopefully thatll be in next weekend with any luck...

got the smallest amount done over the last couple of days, but its been cold, and ive been miserable so progress is limited

 

Pedal box body done and painted

disassembled and cleaned up the top caps and seats for the coil overs

cleaning up the uprights next week and painting them, then hopefully bolt together the front subframe at some point next weekend (best case).

 

just want to aim to get the front on its propper suspension now.

haha, cheers cam, ill let you no when ive finished getting all the surface rust off the dampers in about 9 weeks =p LOL

 

Not exactly my best welding Baz but itll do for what it is, just needs to not break when I brake! lol
