Recommended Posts

Sinbad

Going through a rebuild on my 1.6 Gti at the moment and wondered if this...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Group-Peugeot-Oil-Pump-Spring-Pressure-Relief-Valve-205-309-GTi-MI16-/280742248008?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item415d8abe48

was worth buying??? and is it a good price??

Or is it just a case of "its painted yellow-thats all thats "uprated".......??

That spring is just a standard spring as fitted to later XU engines such as the GTi-6 - it allows pressure to build to 6 bar as opposed to 4 (which is standard i think). They are only a couple of pounds from Peugeot themselves. The valve itself only needs replacing if your current one is excessively scored and likely to jam.

Basically the seller is trying to make a quick profit buying them from Pug then marking them up.

Edit -

The Peugeot part number is 1157 11 and it cost me £1.73 when I bought it a couple of years ago
