Can anyone...from experience, recommend me a pair of seats for the pug. Not looking at expensive stuff but would prefer something from a recognised brand omp, sparco etc. in black cloth.

Cheers

Edd

It really is very dependant on your size and height. Cant you go somewhere and try a few out?

It's down to personal preference to a point, but I've found every cheap steel framed bucket seat that I've tried doubles up as a torture impliment on long journeys.

I would spend the extra and buy a decent bucket seat every time - something like a Sparco Evo/Rev (in plus size if you're on the "generously padded" side) is an excellent choice and I've found them more than comfortable enough to drive to the 'Ring non-stop and still feel fresh when I arrive. If you really can't justify the cost of something like that new, they periodically come up on eBay cheaply, often coming with the side mounts included too.

Corbough( Not Cobra, thats not the correct spelling but thats how its promounced!) Forza are v comfy and cheepish!

'Corbeau' Forza's I couldn't disagree more i'm afraid, they're probably the worst seats IMO, as any steel framed seats they get uncomfortable very quickly.

But the FG/Diolen Corbeau's are very comfy, i have a Carbon-Kevlar Pro-Series that's ultra-light and very comfy with good leg support, a GRP Revolution that's very snug but high-sided & head supports so a pain for in & out use! and an entry level Diolen Sprint too, again comfy.

Cobra's are also good but not as well made, i've had a few Imola's which are comfy enough, but the covers do come away if not kept taught and they fade a little. I have a pair of Suzuka's at the moment, they're a lovely seat! Monaco's are their steel framed entry seat, dad has a pair in the Sierra, not great for prolonged jouney's but better than Forza's.

Echoing Anthony's comments on Sparco's as they're probably my Evo/Rev's he's experienced as i've always had a set or two for about 6 years, always stuck with them over 'better'/more expensive seats because they're just so damn comfy! There's been one in my 'daily' 205 for nearly 4 yrs!

I driven to Germany many times with them, slept in them etc etc, when adjusted properly they're like a giant baby-seat, comfort is just taken for granted as there's just never an issue.

It is a good idea to sit in a few before buying as everyone's a different shape. :)

If you were nearer I'd say come visit and try a few OMP seats though Aylesbury might be a little far. Theres a massive difference depending on the style even with the same brand.

I've a pair of OMP RS in my track 205, they are a GRP seat and are pretty comfortable, and I'm 6'3 and not the smallest frame. Depends on how big you are, I do not find the Sparco seats comfortable, they are too tight for my frame.

I love Corbeau revolutions - quite happily do 3 days of rallying and road work in those when we go over to france and never have any issues with sore spots, etc, bloody comfy too.

Everyone that's ever come up for a car has tried them and bought a pair too, they can be a pain to get into in a hatchback, and they're not cheap, but they're worth every penny.

Tom's right, Sparco seats are tighter than the equivalent OMP/Cobra/Corbeau's, but then they do 2 larger sizes rather than just the one.

Pretty sure Bono had OMP RS's in his old 306 Maxi rep & they were comfy as, i remember falling asleep in one on the way to Wales once anyway!

Loving the info fellas B) probably selling myself short on the weight issue. I bet you all think I'm a fat fooker  I'm 6'2" 13st 8lb keep fit with gym n running and I'm reasonably broad shouldered. Not a fat barsteward  32" waist 40"odd chest..just to give you all an idea of whats sitting in a prospective chair.

As well fellas this is for a pug lowered a few mm using billy b4's and eibachs being the only mods. Just going be for Sunday blasts and maybe the odd track day so need over the shoulder visability.

Cheers

Edd

Sparco are quite small,my Rev seats will fit upto a 34" waist I'd say but I have quite wide shoulders so feels more like I'm sitting on it than in it hence why I've just bought 2 OMP RS seats and there spot on

Cobra Buckets are made in Telford and every now and again they have a factory sale of things like cancelled orders, b Grades etc. OK its pot luck what they have for sale but the prices and super cheap.

May be worth calling them and seeing if they have a sale coming up in the near future.

i had a cobra imola s in fat bastard size  in my gti6, was a lovely seat and very comfy for a full bucket. bought from merlin motorsport at castle coombe. ive got a beer gut and cant fit into the standard sized ones so its worth trying them out before you buy.

also had corbeau forza's in one of my old 205's, they are not too bad for a cheap steel framed seat but do wear quite quickly.

I work for a courier company and keep seeing seats coming through from one of our customers...

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get in touch with them and see if I can get some kind of discount, and see if I can further that onto a club discount...

Don't ask don't get i guess??
