Help Please, Have I Been Sold A Standard Or Group N Mount?

Recommended Posts

ellis

Hi guys, I brought a top engine mount off eBay for my gti6 powered CTi, I'm not convinced tho that is is a group n, is there any way of telling. There are numbers on the rubber mount, they are 08/0902:48 and it also has37/2003. Reason I question it is that it doesn't feel that stiff, I'd expect to not be able to budge it with my fingers but I can. Also would an after market one have these numbers on. Any help would be great, cheers.

It should have a BBM mark moulded on the side and you should not be able to move the rubber by hand, original ones they can be moved by hand due to the softness of them.

Just curious, but why the assumption it must be a BBM mount? Do PTS France not do them anymore?

Cheers for the reply guys, I can bend this mount about 45 degree with my fingers so god help it with an engine on. Have contacted the chap on eBay to see what he has to say.

Thats a std mount, With those numbers on more like a cheap pattern one which won't last 5 minutes, I expect because he has the solid PTS lower one he thought the others where the same, I find this loads where the seller has no idea and only going on what he's been told

I would say most peoples experience (including mine) of a 'group n' mounts are when they are new and not broken in. That one is obviously used so could well be just settled and run in a little. The seller seems fairly genuine 100% feedback etc.

Edit, or Miles could just post at the say time as me
