Non Cat Mi16 Into A Cat Model?

Recommended Posts

If I bought a 1.9 GTI with a cat, can it be fitted with an MI16 and the cat exhaust swapped for a non cat exhaust and still pass an MOT with regard to emissions?

That was quick Welshpug, thanks for that....so will having the V5 for the donor engine be most agreeable.

Depends what year the car is, should be able to get away with a standing idle test like pre cat cars.

The MOT station should go by the Chassis number, Unless it's the Grey carpet model it will or everyone I have found pre-dates the reg number, Or they is a clause where is the MOT tester cannot identify the engine upto around 1994 a non Cat test should be carried out.

Mind knowing how rusty the late ones are I would never have one unless in Dry store for all of its life
