Engine Management Light Problems

Hi Folks,

 

my eml has came on in my 1.9 gti, but as i'm driving the light goes off and on quite often, sometimes you can here a click or interferance through the stereo, or the car jumps as the light goes out or comes on, anyone got any idea's?

Count yourself lucky. Most don't have an EML so they just brake down with no warning!

Thats the thing its running fine, just has the light coming on and off, at least if it broke down i'd have something to go on

Plug it into a Diag machine, this might help you in finding whats wrong, I think you can DIY and test light for the same thing but not something I've done thanks to having the old dealer tool

does anyone know how to self check the fault codes? i would rather fix it myself,

is there any common faults i could start with?

Normally the old Carbon Canister valve is very common as is the light coming on and off, Mind it should stay off longer
