205 Gti Head Gasket

Hi all

ive just bougt a head gasket set for my 205 gti 1.9 and the headbolts say that there for a 1.9 on them and the head set says its for a 1.6, i was just wondering weather this will be ok to use? or shold i get it changed?

1.6 and 1.9 both exactly the same so dont worry about changing it

few thought id have to take i back then lol :)

will all the oil seals and crank seals fit aswell?

also how do you check the bores with the head off as cranking it by hand will disturb the liners?

the seals will be ok, crank the enginje to half way between BDC and TDC and that should give you enough liner wall to check ;-)

or if you have taken the head off, get a few large washers and cut down head bolts and clamp the liners down.

may do that as can see further down the bores then:)

is there a special valve spring compressor for the 205 or will any one do it? as im planning on doing a full head rebuild:)

oh right, ive got the OHC compressor in the shed somewhere wil have to dig it out :)
