Back In A Volvo

Recommended Posts

Picked up a new daily the other week, i won it on Ebay for the bargain price of £255 :D It was advertised as having a problem idiling but after i changed the spark plugs and thermostat for some genuine Volvo ones and cleaned all of the crud out of the Idle Control Valve it now runs and idles like a dream, definetly a bargain.

It's really nice to drive, probably the most comfortable car i've ever owned and it's not too bad in the bends either (awaits the "i've gone though a hedge thread") and the 1.8 engine pulls quite nicely as well as being pretty good on fuel.

Just need to swap the headlights for some Phase 2 ones (the Ph1 lights are woefully underpowered) and get rid of the evil Pirelli P6000 tyre and it should be right as rain

Pretty much, i've had it for a year now and the lack of speed was annoying me, plus i hated driving it on a motorway. I think it's a Volvo/Mitsubishi engine although it does have a Runt gearbox in it, bit of a mongrel car.

a lad at work bought one of these a while back, again it was something along the lines of not running properly and he sorted it out easily and cheaply.

Should be a cheap motor which you can easily make a profit on

Wouldn't mind something like this as a winter hack, so i can put the 205 in the garage and preserve its paint job.

Thats a bargain.

Volvo is latin for "I roll" - you can impress your friends now with this nugget of knowledge.

Instead of saying "that's how i roll" - I will now say "That's how i volvo"

Sorry had some jack daniels, i'll be quiet now.

Tis a lot of car for the money, i was however seeing higher spec ones for sale (2.0, leather, air-con etc) for not much more then £500 so it does seem their value is at rock bottom around now and as i said, they are very nice to drive.

If Volvo is Latin for I Roll does that mean that the company was founded by some Gangster leaning Latinology scholar

Can't go wrong at all with a Volvo wagon for that money frankly - hell, it's probably worth not far off what you paid to weigh in at the moment!

Just got myself a Volvo 850 estate.Ebay £340,pretty much a year's ticket and 5months tax. It's the 5cylinder 20valve model.Appears that the bigger engined 'estatey' type cars are going for peanuts at the moment!!
