What Would You Say Is The Most 'desirable' 205?

Recommended Posts

Stu

Ive been thinking recently as to which colour/trim combination, limited edition etc would be the most desirable in years to come...

Griffe aside, I would say the 1FM is up there, then maybe full leather Sorrento's?

Your thoughts? ;-)

205 T16 in full group B trim?

Back to reality I suspect nothing will beat the 1FMs

At the end of the day, the most collectible of any......collectible......is the one that's hardest to come by. So any of the really rare ones. 1FM, obviously - I don't rate them as they're nothing more than a tarted up standard GTI, but hard to beat for rarity value. There's some other rarities like the dealer specials, the Cheetah (IIRC) and stuff like that, but I've mixed feelings about them as despite them being uber rare, I'm not sure anyone actually cares that much about them.

If this is true, I never understood why the "Limited Edition" models didn't become more desirable than a regular 205. I mean, there was only 1200 made in sorrento and miami as we know.

For me the most desirable is an original Turbo Technics, along with the 1FM.

I think the LE versions have had some degree of desirability in recent years. Not a lot, but some. It's ultimately down to the buyers and what they want though. Perhaps we've just not reached that point in time yet, when 205s are rare enough for some models to be more desirable/collectable than others.

And part of the problem with the LEs is that their desirability was diluted by Pug making the colours and some of the spec optional extras in later years. Add to that the fact that so many LEs have been bastardised and non-LEs given LE spec, it creates a lot of confusion to buyers.

But as I said, the most desirable will be the ones that are hard to come by. So anything that is in excellent OE condition, and hard to find (and a genuine LE will fit that bill) will be desirable in years to come.

I am keeping hold of my black one just because it's an oddball spec.

Mine :D

Seriously though, it has to be the 1.9 GTi, it doesn't have any of them fancy, girly, im extra special extra bits and it has more of the raw limit with more power as standard. Or, the model that sold sold the most numbers.

Oh god, here I am disagreeing with SurGie yet again! So predictable

Are you serious?

So the most desirable 205 in years to come will be the one that probably exists in the greatest numbers and has the dullest power delivery

Actually, you know you are probably right  . Because the people who will be spending the big money on these in years to come will the ones who (probably) remember them from their youth and and have always lived under the illusion that the 1.9 was the superior model.

Most people will want the original 1.9 gti just like they always have, they sold the most from factory, that wont change in the future either.

I'd say one of the very first press cars on an A plate. I bet they're all gone now. Anyone know of any on the road still?

There was an A reg 205 for sale on ebay a few days ago. Think it was a low miler, had some bids around the £2000 mark. Doesn't seem to be there now.

Lots of thoughts on this one...

But think the Miami and Sorrento, in good clean standard form are going to be the one's, obviously after things like the 1fm's...
