... although i've read people are using 1.6 box's with 1.9 final gear ratio.

 

Which apart from first gear would be the same as a 1.9 box and hence not worth it, so leads me to think you perhaps mean a 1.9 Gear set with 1.6 FD Ratio? That'd be more likely as it has a longer first gear because the 1.6 one is silly short! Or of course a Mi16/S16/VTS 4.4 FD as that gives a nice short box suited to the 16v power bands.
