Shiny Gti Pics

Recommended Posts

I managed to find time to give the car a wash, clay and wax today so I thought I'd post up some pics because everyone likes pics don't they! They're only from my HTC but worth a look:

Looks great Dave - spot on.

The wheels are still looking good too - have you refurbed them or are they as they were when you bough them from me?

It looks great  and I really like the orange indicators.

What have you used on the trim and how long did it take you to do the whole process (wash, clay, polish, wax)?

Although I lilke having a clean car I can't be bothered cleaning it that often anymore.

Cheers mate :) Apart from having new tyres they're the same as when I bought them off you. They will need a refurb soon but with a good clean they still come up alright.

It's a dead end road on a new industrial park so no chance of that thankfully!

I cleaned the trim with some dilluted degreasant and then applied some Autoglym Bumper Care. I've got some Plasticare ready to go on but I didn't have an appropriate applicator so I went with the tried and tested stuff. Overall it only took about 3 hours as it didn't get a polishing, it needs one really but I just didn't have the time to break out the orbital.

As it's been clayed before most of the panels we're quite smooth already but it made a huge difference on the lower doors, lower rear quarters and bumpers. Clay is awesome stuff really, for less than £10 it's well worth having in the kit bag!

Cheers mate, when I see people staring I always hope they're admiring the car! Nice 172 BTW.

Lol cheers Mark. It will make an appearance eventually but I've got a radiator issues to solve first. I can't turn up with it looking all shiny, but at the same time it's pi55ing coolant all over the road

That looks absolutely flipping superb. Especially admiring how well that trim has come out, given how faded and patchy the phase 1/1.5 trim tends to look!

You may or may not be interested in pictures of the car you sold to me after I'd clayed, washed, polished and waxed it, but I give you no choice! It's not relevant to your thread, but it is a product of your ownership.

Suffice to say I still deem it money very well spent!

Just finished ordering up parts so I can finally get cracking on the 16v conversion I had planned - poor thing has been in my garage covered in old bedsheets for many months.

Sorry for the hi-jack...

Hi Mate!

How's things? It's good too see the car again, and it looks like it's come up really well, especially given how it looked when I originally bought it!

Get a thread up on the conversion as I'd like to track it's progress ;)

It's not the car from the earlier pics. The 'G' plater is mine (which has had Billies and Eibach's recently) and dgp_1_'s car is the other Miami that I sold him about 12 months ago :)

Looks bloody lovely Dave!! Well worth keeping Miami's clean if you can find the time! ...and if they're worth it! - Unlike mine now unfortunately! :(

Orange indicators FTW!! :D

You did a good job tidying that one up :)

I'll get a thread going in the very near future. Accursed University in Reading (!) means I'm away from home for grand chunks at a time, in the unquestionably sunnier south - although, all the posh public school types round here make me yearn for a simple 'ey up' and a pie.

Be good to get down to a meet sometime!
