Colin Satchell Inlet And Injector Position

Recommended Posts

craig_007

I removed my longman manifold and I'm going to fit my Colin Satchell inlet.

Now, Am I better fitting my original fuel rail and mounting the injectors into the inlet manifold or are they better sited in the ITB's as with the Longman set up ?

What ever way I go I will need to blank 4 injector holes, Can I just use a spare set of injectors I have to blank the 4 holes or would I be better blanking off with something else ?

fit both :) would need additional wiring and mapping though of course.

for most engines they will work well in the standard position,

you could use a spare set of injectors to plug the holes, wont do any harm but will look a bit messy, depends if you intend on going for an 8 injector setup later on or not, I gather you have one of Colin's inlets that suits Jenvey bodies rather than the lotus or Bike body version?

I will stick with 4 injectors for the mean time I think.

Yep, This is one of Colins inlets for the Jenvey bodies, Turns the bodies upside down, I'm going to have a go getting fired up this afternoon.

You will have to keep us updated. I am thinking of doing the exact same thing. Will you putting it on the rollers to see any gains?

Well got everything done on the car today, The new manifold has altered fuelling a little for low down revs, Needs a tweak but I'm almost certain the car seems to pull harder.

Never really had much issue with 2nd gear wheel spin on my car but today (a little wet) as soon as I sank the boot at 4k there was no grip at all, Even going up to third it would spin for a little, I can't remember that ever happening before.

I know I have no figures but so far so good.

I also think it's a tidier set up with the bodies being up side down and utilising the original fuel rail and regualtor.

Good good. It does improve it, we wouldn't waste our time otherwise!

Just need to get back in touch with Colin now for trumpets with air filter back plate.

Induction length just now from valvle to end of trumpet is 380mm.

Is it worth while going with longer trumpets (I have enough space at the front now)

Currently running 70mm trumpets but should easily get 90mm fitted for an overall length of 400mm.

This is probably in my head but the car even sounds livelier !!

I'll need to pop round for a spy at this at somepoint mate.

What do you think has made the most difference, Inlet length or moving the injectors back to original position ?

you need to make sure theres enough clearance from the trumpets to the filter, best bet is to try both when its on the rr, depends on cam timing too

My cam timing is set to what petert reccomend me but could likely do with fine tuning.

That why I like the idea of Colins trumpet/back plate arrangement, That takes filter to trumpet clearance out the equasion.

I have no idea what has made the biggest difference regarding injector position etc but I know there is an improvement

Proper testing is the only way to know, but trumpet shape can be as effective on the delivery as length, once you're in the right area.

craig_007 Did you ever get the car rolling roaded and tweaked.
