Automatic To Manual Conversion

hi guys, seen a gti i really like only trouble is its an automatic, is it easy to convert to manual gearbox or not worth the hassle?

 

any helps appreciated , cheers

Very easy, Just flywheel, Clutch, Clutch Pedal and Cable, Gear linkage's (Complete), even the pedal box just needs a bung removing

just be careful as it will not be a 1.9 GTI as you think it is. It will have the low compression 1.9 engine with 105 BHP instead of the 122 the catted late GTIs came with. It isn't a bad engine but you would need to run it with a 1.6 gearbox really otherwise it will feel a bit flat. It will be basically the same as a Gentry.

cheers guy's dosent sound to big a job ill take it for a test drive and see how it feels, i was planning on a turbo conversion next year so not overly worried about performance just hate automatics !

If it is the low comp engine, then you can bolt a turbo straight on quite easily with no internal mods. That is what I run in my CTI with the same engine. When buying a 205 now, the bodywork tends to be more important than the engine.

Whats the engine code, Maybe mine is a odd ball well it is but it's got the Full power Cat engine and not the low comp one, they are out there
