New Front Seat Foams

Recommended Posts

dch1950

Hi all,

I am also a member of the French version of our little society, I check out their "group buys" and general interest purchases quite regularly. One that caught my eye last Friday was the purchase of new seat foams. I have mentioned the determination these guys show when they want something for their GTi's and I really do think we should try and get in on the act with this. I direct this post to all forum members in general, and those who like titles in particular.

We should contact this forum and say to them can we be included in their purchase arrangements. Increased scope of group buys is good as it will enevitably lead to better discounts.

I just wonder how many times I've got to keep repeating this before anyone takes any notice. You know it makes sense.

regards

Dave

PS they were selling a set of front seat foam for €120 Euros plus P+P, or 2 for €240 and free P+P

Hi mate,

yes it is a good idea - but there's no method by which our loose association of people with the same interest (GTi's) seem to be able to get anything like this started. The French forum is a spin off of the main French club (members only and a set of rules and regulations that you sign in blood  ) I've mentioned this before and I just get quietly ignored. I'm not certain who actually does hold any power/influence to get this initiated.

It's in all our interests to get something like this going as we have a shared common ideal. Divide and rule has always been true - unfortunately.

I'm talking with a "forumeur" about getting some details about these seat foams. Initially it looks like a specialist firm makes them (so they are replicas - not OEM), but if a large order could be placed we have more credibility with them.

Dave

You've seen my pictures of their group buy of the 1.6 bolster cloth I presume.

Hi everyone,

I have been in contact with the firm that was mentioned by a "forumeur" who contacted me yesterday. The guy seems to have a nice sideline in auto seat foams as he is referenced on the golt, renault 5, and the 205 GTi sites in France. Also advertises in a mag called GTi Tech - which I must admit I've not come across before.

I think the PUG ones are shown in one of the "tutorials" which are available on the "GTi club de France" as per items 2 and 3 shown here: French GTi club tutorials.

I'm waiting for the owner (Janick LELAN) of the firm "DIFS-sellerie S.A to get back to me with availability and prices. I admit that the likleyhood of most people wanting to replace the whole foam (squab & seat) is rare, but this is another option if that's the way you want to go. Depends how much of a purist you are I suppose.

Still I prefer more options than less.

regards

Dave

Funnily enough I was going to suggest contacting Euro clubs to see if they'd got any contacts or would be interested in doing a group buy with us British folks.

One would hope that they'd be happy to work with a fine forum like this but if not maybe PSOOC has a sister official club in France?

If they do just the lower bolster foam seperately I would be interested in purchasing.

I already do those - see my site shop (link below)

We are just a forum, and as such have no legal standing or official status (other than we all think we're the best thing since sliced bread) . PSOC is membership only, Club de France - members only. These are big clubs and I suspect that our reputation for the technical side of ownership isn't enough in itself.

Hi all,

I have attempted to contact DIFS-Sellerie 3 times now in English and French, but they do not answer. This lack of a response from them has been commented upon on the French forum, it appears they are not in any rush to do business. This is a shame as the price ( 120 Euros) wasn't outrageous. There is a picture of them, however, on the tutorials link I quted earlier.

regards

Dave
