My GTi came with a Kent cam and Vernier Pulley when I bought it. I gave slowly been going back to standard form on my car and taking off all the "mods"

I put up a wanted ad earlier in the week, it came to light that I have a 405 SRi can in my garage and Mr. Welshpug advised that this would give greater torque than the STD 1.9 cam??

What's your thoughts?? Will there be any down sides to fitting this cam???

Thanks!

(Kent cam and vernier for sale soon!!)

I'm not even sure on the more torque thing - I suspect that the main reason 405 SRi's make more torque than 205 GTi's is more down to the better head design rather than because of anything fundamental with the cam.

Given how cheap a proper 1.9 GTi cam will be, I really don't see why you'd risk strangling the engine with the milder 405 cam - if you're going to go to the hassle of swapping the cam and reshimming the head to suit, you might as well do it with the proper cam IMO.
