Sensor Fell Out

Hello,

 

Wierd one, last weekend I heard a knocking rattling sound in front of passenger footwell area, having a look underneath saw that it was a sensor dangling down, So i tried to secure it and went home, where it fell off....... the sensor with wires and connector on the other end all in one nice little bundle.

 

It looks like a speed sensor and after looking in haynes think it maybe the tdc sensor, the car is a 1990 1.6 gti, the car seems to drive fine, and no difference pre or after sensor fell off. Having a look today I cant see where it has come from or the connector it was attached to, anyone got any suggestions? presumably there is hole where it came from which should be plugged or have another sensor put in it
