Aftermarket Exhaust. Can't Get It To Seal Properly.

Other than the fact that I have found that someone has snapped a manifold stud off <_< So I need to get my sticky little fingers on an angle drill attachment to sort this, the flexible joint at the end of the manifold before it joins the rest of the system has a blow. I've removed it, tightened everything up and refitted - ok for about 5 mins. Removed it again slathered exhaust paste round the join, re-fitted. This was ok for a couple of days. Its the join under the springs, not the U-clamp.

I'm assuming there is something I'm missing as by its nature its a flexible joint and thats whats cracking the seal I make. Is there supposed to be a wire mesh doughnut type thing in there somewhere? Like in this kit?

Alternatively, I don't really want this exhaust on the car - would rather it was original so if anyone is interested in swapping a full system, let me know (its a 1.6 BTW). Or even just the manifold!!

Dammit! Someone had taken it apart previously and put sealer stuff there. I was trying to fix it... Didn't know it wasn't supposed to come apart! Thought those springs were a bugger to get off!

Need to get a welder then. Hate paying for someone else to do stuff I can do...

Recently moved up to Lincs from Devon so don't know many people round here yet. Used to borrow various tools with mates in Devon. Lent stuff out and offered garage space in exchange. Nothing for nothing! Between us, we had tools enough to outfit a large commercial garage! Best bit was no-one ever asked for something in exchange for lending/helping. Various deals went on - my usual was to offer dinner (I cook a lot...)

Says in my thingy to the left ;) Spilsby. 12 miles north of Boston, 14 miles west of Skeggy. Waiting till I've finished the group buy I'm running on another forum as its taking up my paypal (got a list of bits I need and need my paypal to get them!) and I'll try one of those mesh doughnuts for now.

GB is from a company in the States and they only accept payment via paypal so everyone has paid me and I send the money off. 3rd one I've done now!!
