306 Engine Mounts In 205

Recommended Posts

Do many people use the 306 engine mounts when doing a GTi6 conversion?

I imagine the 205 mounts are more than capable of taking the extra weight, but I have a few sets of mounts in good condition and my 205 side buffers that go in the cradel are a bit perished.

I notice the 306 buffers are joined together, and should squeeze in and be a better choice until I see whether I need to go for solid upper mounts.

Anyone used them? I'm tempted to put a 306 round mount engine mounting in aswell if it will fit? Haven't taken the exisiting one out to check if it fits yet as I am waiting for my paint to dry so I don't chip it

Baker, BBM !

Yeah I appreciate BBM do uprated mounts for the 205.

I am using a rear lower solid mount to stop movement, but would prefer to keep the gearbox and top mount OEM.

The 306 ones are nearly new, stiffer than the ones on my 205 and if they have been used succesfully then I would rather see how I got on with them than buy BBM ones.

other than the lower mount all the 306 ones are different and wont fit, not sure if the buffer will.

It was quite obvious that the 306 gearbox one wouldn't swap over, but my current one is in good nick.

The upper engine mount is actually different then, thats fine.

I will see how I get on with just changing the buffers for 306 ones and report back.

Yep, done the buffers before, but tbh doesn't give you any benefit over standard and i don't bother because i space out the buffers, with the 306 ones they're the wrong way round so make it difficult.

Popped the 306 buffers in and it's much better.

My 205 ones may have been very worn, but the 306 ones squeeze in nice and snugly to the cradle and will help with movement a lot I should think.

I was looking to use the 306 ones as well, glad to see they work.
