dav1 7 Posted September 19, 2011 I,ve put a new rear beam on my 205 gti its been rebuilt, an has 306 gti arms. It sits more to the Wright off the car, 1/4 to 1/2 inch more. Ive slackened every thin off and tried to move it over, it did a bit but not all the way. Should i try to elongate the holes? thanks for any help.
Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted September 19, 2011 Are you sure you didn't get the arms mixed up and use 1 gti6 one and 1 205 one?
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted September 19, 2011 They all sit like that mate, I've tried moving mine over many times to no avail
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted September 19, 2011 Unfortunatley as Paul says most of them are like that so don't panic.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 19, 2011 What top mounts are you using?, As you have D, G, C and unmarked ones
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted September 19, 2011 Don't the top mounts move the beam back to front, not side to side?
welshpug 1,646 Posted September 20, 2011 yep, if you use a mismatched pair the beam will sit twisted and one side will stick out more, probably handle odd too
dav1 7 Posted September 20, 2011 Better check that wat should i be looking for? Are they in an order or something?
welshpug 1,646 Posted September 20, 2011 look for the offset of the studs, 1.6 and base model are central and identical left to right, but 1.9 are handed and offset about 5mm from the centreline and are marked with a D or a G on the inside face
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 20, 2011 Not all the time and hence why I added the 'C' on there which I have seen once or twice before
steve@cornwall 100 Posted September 21, 2011 look for the offset of the studs, 1.6 and base model are central and identical left to right, but 1.9 are handed and offset about 5mm from the centreline and are marked with a D or a G on the inside face D & G as in Droit & Gauche or Right & Left in French ? Guess C would be centre?
SurGie 54 Posted September 21, 2011 Or the C is a badly stamped G
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 21, 2011 It's a C and not the first one I have seen either, Beam has never been off as it's a 58k Mile'r and stood for 10 years
SurGie 54 Posted September 21, 2011 Sounds like a typical Peugeot technician then, he/she probably forgot to wear their glasses that day Much like when they cant be arsed to paint inside the boots and apply the sealant very well.
