How Do You Use The Search Fucnction?

Recommended Posts

I am new to this site and have been trying to use the 'search' function as requested instead of posting a new topic. Unfortunately i cant seem to get anywhere with it, just tried to find articles on exhausts for my 205. I tried gti exhaust, exhaust and which exhaust, some topics came up but nothing particularly helpful???

just type:

site: forum.205gtidrivers.com

into google, and whatevver your searching for after, for example i want to search for threads related to 'S16'.

Google> site: forum.205gtidrivers.com S16

job done.

The search function is a bit limited to be honest. It ignores a lot of common words, and word under a certain length.

I normally find it easier to use google - if you put 'site:205gtidrivers.com' on the end of your search it will only show results from this site.

The art of searching is about thinking laterally to get the best results. This goes for any search engine. As you've found, only enter one common word and you will have a flood of results. There's not really any tips I can give as the art of searching is not one I'm too great at either. But as I said, you have to have a good think about what it is you are trying to find and what would be the best keywords to get that result.

When I use the search function I click on search titles only and a simple search such as 'best exhaust' and always get results I'm after, not pages of useless threads that happen to mention the words best and exhaust somewhere

I tend to use google too. I select "advanced search", stick the forum URL in the "website" part and do it that way. Their is a knack to searching tbh.
