8V Vs 16V Ignition Coils?

Hi,

my mi16 decided not to start last night, with no spark at the plugs.

 

I suspect my ignition coil, as it was replaced not long ago.

 

My question is; are the coils for the 8v engine and the 16v engine the same?

And does anyone know the Bosch part number for the correct one for an mi16?

Phase two 8V coils are very similar and do work on a 16v but don't have the mounting tabs. Earlier cylindrical coils will also work but the LT connectors are different so you need to crimp on new connectors and use an 8v king lead.

Thanks. My new coil sounds just like a ph2 8v one then.

Not sure if it Bosch or not, so could have failed in a couple of months I guess.

 

I'll go for a Bosch one from ECP and see if that helps.

check if the injectors are pulsing, if they are not I'd replace the TDC sensor, if they are and still no spark but have power fine then i'd try another coil

 

TDC sensor is cheaper

OK, so tried a new coil - nothing. Replaced the fuel pump relay - nothing.

 

Injectors are pulsing fine, but no fuel at rail when cranking.

 

I cleaned the TDC sensor as it was a bit gummed up, but still nothing.

 

Should I suspect the fuel pump and if so, where is it?
