205 Turbo Technic Conversion

Recommended Posts

just bought one of these tt conversions and was fancying gettin a bit more power out of it. looked down the route of changing the dizzy for coil and a mappable ecu etc but seems a lot of money for an extra 20 bhp. Any other options?

there isnt really any other vable options, you'll get much more than a peak bhp figure extra, better throttle response, more torque, better fuel economy, more reliable management components.

I'd never look at the old 5th injector set up, you'll get more than 20bhp as well plus more torque, Last couple I've done have seen 210 ish and 230ft lb of torque so BHP for £ works out cheap, so a nice gain from the 175 as std

its already got the fifth injector set up as fitted by tt, what would a reasonable price for converting from dizzy to coil with the management and that? the price i got quoted the other week, was dearer than getting a 2.0 8v conversion done running 210bhp

you'd be looking at the cost of an ecu, a loom fitting and mapping, so probably around £1000 all in or thereabouts.

thats considerable cheaper than i was quoted,

Emerald K6 £595

Premade loom wired into your car £360

Map sensor £95

Leak down test and compression test and oil pressure test £180

To fully remap the ECU £360

To modify the induction system (removing the air flow meter) £80

ps all plus vat

Who ever quoted you that has no idea, 'Oil pressure test I mean'.

But that's not a bad price really.

Only things they didn't list was removing the old loom, ECU and various parts with it, Find a later style themostat housing which takes a coil pack saves making crappy brackets and you can use Pug HT leads then instead of odd one's unless yours has this fitted already (Year depending)

I'd add a Lambda sensor thou as it does help mapping and lets the ECU know the fueling

just cant get my head around the fact i can get a ready to run 2.0 8v lump for 1300. its the mapping and loom tat seams dear to me. the mappings 90 quid dearer than emerald themselves

You pay for what you get, Most RR won't map anything for less than £300.00 and having used Emerald in the past it's why now I normally use Omex
