can a pas rack be fitted into the base model / tu cars, or is there simply not room for it, fouling on the downpipe perhaps?

Fouls on the gear linkage from memory - if you do a search for posts by Adam_P you should find pictures of the issues when he tried to fit a PAS rack.

Surely if you remove the ram. You lose the power steering?

If you are doing it for a quicker rack then it fits fine as I did it - hated it though as there was too much play in the PAS rack IMO.

A base model diesel manages it, pas pump on the gearbox though. Hang on BE gearbox not Ma

Nope doesnt fit. Gear linkage fouls the rack even with the ram removed.

This is very strange as I did this on my old rallye. I'm just wondering if I was using the modified GTI subframe at that time and if it would make any diff but I don't think so!

What about fitting a PAS rack to a CTi subframe, because they're the same as a CJ aren't they? So won't the rack still foul the gear linkages?

BE4r gearbox conversion?

This!! :D

looking through servicebox no MA boxed 205 or 309 ever had PAS, it was all the XU engines which kinda makes sense as they are heavier and had wider tyres.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but if power steering doesn't fit can you fit a quicker rack to it, i.e. different size cogs to make turning quicker?
