Fuel Tank Heat Shield

How crucial is the fuel tank heat shield? Mine's damaged and broken and the bolt that it mounts to is seized and the other one is missing.

Can i simply ditch it?

depends how hot your exhaust runs, but I'd imagine most will be just fine without.

 

 

not noticed any ill effects since mine decided to fall off driving down the road

mine started ratling like hell on the exhaust when the mounts rotted away so i ripped what was left of it off and i havent exploded yet

I might just put some sticky backed heat matt on the tank, and if it falls off in a few months im not bothered.
