Metal Water Pipe

Recommended Posts

chipstick

I am planning on getting a replacement from Peugeot, and have seen some cheaper ones on Ebay. It doesn't look like the Ebay items are genuine.

I wondered if anyone had experience of replacing water pipes a few times on different 205's or whatever and had views on replacements.

I personally usually go for Peugeot parts for 'piece of mind' Yet the Ebay ones may be made to a higher standard, or somone else may make a better version.

I often wonder why BakerBM don't make a long silicone hose to do away with the metal pipe, as on the inner arch on the 306 for example which flex's enough with engine movement.

And I can gaurantee there are a few members on here who will probably say 'I use copper pipe, never had a problem'

For what they cost and how long they will last, I just change them as and when needed. Generally if it needs doing, it is because its the original pipe from when the car was new.

I did consider making some out of stainless, but it didn't really seem worth the bother given the cheap cost of a standard replacement.

You've got a point. I suppose it should last a bloody good while anyway. In all fairness, I am never going to use the car long enough for even a cheapy to fail. But for the sake of what the genuine one costs over the one on Ebay, I will just buy the genuine one.

To try and make mine last a little longer I gave mine several coats of paint so as at least to protect from the outside effects of crud. Seems to be holding up quite well as it happens.

On my old shared car, we just used a longer length of flexi silcone to join the rad to the block and just cable tied it in place, that also seemed to work fine with no problems.

For the price it costs, take one from Pug. It will last a while...

Rotary washing line???? you what?? (please excuse my ignorance lol)

Kinda have to agree with the theory about how much they cost and replacing them as and when... Also with the painting idea...

And again with the stainless method... Anyone able to knock up a batch for multi buy??
