Stereo Wires.

hi folks i recenty took a aftermarket stereo out to fit the old clarion tape deck, the wires at the back where a mess. anyway the problem i have now is the car wont start, wondered if any of the wires from the stero where linked to the ignition wires. started no problem before i took it out. ? any help would be great.

Do you get any ignition lights come on at all? Is the car totally dead or just cranks and doesn't fire?

yeah i have ignition , all dials are working , car turns over but nothing after that. asked my cousin today as he had a gti at one point, he said something about the ignition live wire or something.

Will the car start if you disconnect the stereo? You do have an ignition live to the stereo obviously but i am not sure if this links with any thing else. It could just be a major coincidence. Your going to have to check the basics, make sure the fuel pump is running and your getting fuel to the injectors and check to see if you have a spark.

The switched live feed to the stereo is cut while cranking anyway so I suspect it is a coincidence. As said check the basics, fuel+spark.

Not that this should be in any way linked to the stereo, but check the switched live that runs through one of the brown plugs under the dash. Not the starter solenoid one, but the actual switched live. If you've got a loose connection (as I did) you'll have no live to the coil or the relays, so it'll just crank away with no fuel or spark.

need some help with these wires , which wire is the switched live etc , any help would be great this is the mess of the wiring i have in the car
