Identifying Pistons...

Recommended Posts

madspikes

I have a set of pistons and I'm not sure which of the many engine that have come through my hands they have come from, and could do with some help identifying them.

I'm not sure if they came from the later lower compression 1.9 engine cat engine or the standard 1.9 engine. How can I tell the difference? I was sure i;ve read it somewhere on here but cant find.

Thanks,

Mad

.. read the numbers/letters from the piston crown , and post them here and i'll should be able to help identifying them from my OE service books .

(photo wouldn't mind too ... just the piston crown so that we can visually roughly see the dish depth ..)

The main marking is a large capital 'R' inside a circle.

Any ideas?

The R marked pistons are :

engine type : XU51C TR

engine code : B3A and B3B

Suppose they're been replaced , theres no letters on top of the crown ... for 16v engines it should have : A , B , C , D , ZZ , W , H , P or XX letters .

All i can see i the manufacturer code - PdC -> PDC manufacturer (they where PDC , SMM and FM OE piston manufacturers ..)

Really?? Not sure where they came from in that case! As far I'm aware I only had 1.9 pistons!

Sorry to hijack, but could you kind gents have a go at identifying these pistons? My mate has just bought a 1.6TurboTechnics engine, and we would like to confirm that it has the correct pistons:

On the underside of the crown it says pdc a3 and round the inside of the skirt it says 83v21++ or tt not sure

Thanks

Me thinks they're the TT ones ... cos , i don't have them in my book by this bottom markings .. just the manufacturer (PDC)

Do they have any letters on the top of the crown ? (but still , if they're TT ones , i will not have them listed in the OE Peugeot book , just std. ones ..)

Thanks for the help! Is there anywhere where we can find out more info about the turbo technics pistons? Wed like to confirm their history before he carries on with the rebuild.

The rods look to be 142mm (+/-1mm) centre to centre which has to make them 1.9 rods, right?
