Mi16 Code Extraction Problem

Recommended Posts

magichands

hi i would like some advice am trying to extract the codes from bosch motronic 1.3 88-92 mi16 which is in my 205 using the jumper system , i have connected a switched jumper to wire 17 of green plug and other side of switched jumper to ground , then it says to turn ignition to "run" on position , close the jumper for 3 secs the "check engine " indicator will come on , does the "check engine" light mean the red stop light if so this comes on when you turn the ignition on anyway , i have tried doing the test and pressing for 3 secs and nothing changes or lights up , am i doing something wrong or could ecu be dodgy , or could it be something wrong on the wiring conversion prity sure i got it right though .any help ideas would be helpfull thanks magichands

check engine light is the orange light with the silhouette of an engine, most 205 instrument clusters dont have this

hi thanks makes sence now , been messing around today and managed to get the codes extracted moved a bulb in the instrument cluster for wire 74 from green plug , the code it threw out was 14 which says its the coolant thermistor , is this the coolant temp sensor ( cts ) if so i have already changed this for a brand new one last week ( not bosch ) to try and get to the bottom of a running problem which is its got a lack of power and using shed loads of fuel so suspect its in limp home mode, tested the afm which is ok and belled out all the wiring cts ,afm ,knock sensors to n from ecu ect and checked the connections , so going to get a genuine bosch one reset ecu and hope this fixes it , wouldn't think it would matter what make it is but nothing else i can think of thanks magichands

doesnt matter on the brand, id check the wiring, i dont think these were sophisticated enough to have a limp home mode as such
