If i have offended any of the mods in anyway please accept my most sincere apologies...As it was not intentional. I think you're all great for having the patience to do it in the first place...Hats off to you :)

Its not the mods fault at all but this site is very much trusted by a lot of people and it was a sad day when the site had to get funding from advertisers.

I for one wrongly believed that all our sponsors were therefore of the highest quality, I'm actually a bit shocked that one of them can be so bad.

Do we know how much longer this firm has left on their contract with us?

Sorry missed that bit

I know it could lead to problems, but why are they allowed to continue sponsoring the site and sell dodgy engines?!

Half the components they sell are dodgy, I bet all of the mi liners they sell are oval. I've heard off someone on here after they purchased some they were beyond repair.

My mate paid a fortune for an engine in good faith and it blew up in no time.

And its certainly not the first time its happened either.

Another lad on here bought an 8v turbo off them and guess what... full DT bottom end again!

People should be made aware of this and allowed to be ripped off.

Cowboys!

I know who you mean, i agree.

EDIT> Iv just read the whole thread, GLP ;)

This companies head is a master at ripping people off, iv had problems with my shafts on the arms i had in 2008, they were oval. I was told via a proper specialist company that they were originally heat treated after honing instead of heating to harden then honing. The beam was sorted from his friends/associates axle place in Coventry but they could have originally come from him for all i know .

I nearly bought a 5k engine back then, but at the time i got a funny feeling, a 6th sense after talking to him on the phone about it all, then the gti6 forum had that big thread about them. It's almost as if he gets your trust, checks out what type of person you are then decides whether to rip you off, at least thats how it made me feel.

Good on you for getting your money back :)

This is why when I rarely buy something it is always done on credit card. As you dont have the goods and they were not shipped to you in reasonable condition then you are almost guaranteed to win.

Some businesses seem to not care about their reputation or customer care, but others will bend over backwards to help even if they end up loosing money on the sale. Pissed off customers dont come back and they are 10 times more vocal than a happy customer.

i know who this is now  they took my m8s mi16 for a rebuild and told him the crank was bent (which was complete lies as it spun a shell and was stopped immediately after it went), just an excuse to ad another 400 quid on bill so my m8 left the engine there and never went back for it.

Good job you got you money back though, me and my m8 were contemplating going up and giving him some "feedback" over the bent crank rip off business.

Good job,

Mind the cranks can bend even with the slightest of knocks so I wouldn't say for sure it would have been OK

Good job,

Mind the cranks can bend even with the slightest of knocks so I wouldn't say for sure it would have been OK

This was my engine were talking about MI16 it was a great engine in my pug 205 GTI which 205-sunderland now has, anyway the engine was running perfect then it developed a slight ticking noise so car was turned off i got a engineer out who confurned it was probs a shell on its way out.. NOTE I had a orig 1.9 gti comp engine aswell.. myself and my m8 205-sunderland contacted a engine builder informed him what the plans were.. i was told the 1.9 spare engine was no good for parts... we travelled to north berwick with the mi16 engine. talked on what i wanted agreed a price and all was well...

Then after a phone call i was informed he wanted to-do a full rebuild as it was better for him as he didant really want to waste time on a small job i said no no no, days later i got another call saying your crank is bent like a bannana WHAT you think im daft impossable, anyway as again ive got a spare 1.9 engine no good i was told mmmm not true cranks the same...

Anyway to cut to the chase pay £1500 for full engine re-build now complete WHAT i only wanted the bottom end sorting, i could not afford that so i was told engine will be sold on if not collected within 3months... KEEP IT........

NEVER WENT BACK

SO HOW CAN A CRANK BEND LIKE A BANNANA AND ONLY DEVELOP A SLIGHT TICKING....

YES the cranks can bend, only a few thou perhaps so the "banana" description isn't really accurate, but a few thou at 7k rpm is enough to make a horrible engine that probably won't last long.

NO the 1.9 GTI crank is NOT the same as the Mi16 crank. Stroke the same, journals the same, counterweights different.
